THIS
IS WHAT STARTED IT ALL
First production Foil Assembly was cast mid summer of 1988. It
had blunt and bulky edges, and huge stabilizer fins. The heavy
black powder coating was used to smooth
out
the rough casting surfaces which caused parasitic drag and rendered
the foil unusable. Top speed recommended was 17 mph.
In
the years to follow many changes were made, such as to widen the
strut cross section for more strength and better water splitting,
thinning out all edges... including fuselage nose and tail. Reducing
size of rear stabilizers and adding front wingtips. Polishing
the entire foil assembly many Air Chair enthusiasts during this
period were paying big bucks for these modifications although
this flat blade technology was at its end.
During
this time of hydrofoil history Air Chair was deeply involved in
the development of an industry shattering new concave blade design.
After many years of research
and
development the new concave hydrofoil design of the future became
available.
If
the first years sales along with the unbelievable positive customer
response is any indication, the new adjustable performance variable
lift Air Chair is destined to be the industries leader well into
the next century.
In
the beginning mode the undulated surface of the front wing mixing
with planar surface of the rear creates a solidity of ride never
before possible with the outdated duel flat surface front and
rear blades. With added variable lift the Air Chair has developed
a certain winner.....completely eliminating the frustration often
experienced by the new rider.
As the riders skills improve and higher performance is desired
a change to the concave rear blade in the advanced mode is all
that is necessary. This immediately opens a whole new arena of
spectacularly quick performance never before available with the
early flat bladed design.
Yes there is more for those who dare, just spin the concave rear
blade 180 degrees and you’re in the pro mode. In this mode the
performance escalates to somewhere in the next galaxy.
