SKIDDER
It
is easiest to learn the skidder on very smooth water. Boat speed
should be about 20 MPH. Move outside of the wake in a straight
line of travel. Elevate the blades as close to the surface as
possible without loosing lift. In a quick but smooth movement
simultaneously at the hips move shoulders way back and lower the
handle to the knees. While applying light pressure with your feet,
hold that position. The ski should start lurching, trying to jump
at this time keeping the handle on your knees. Brake forward at
the waist and release the pressure on your feet completely relaxing
your legs. This will bring the front of the blade to a flatter
angle of attack. The lurching will stop and a smooth skidder will
commence. If the foil sinks you broke forward too far, or raised
the handle off your knees. Start over and try again. Slalom turns
and wake cuts can be accomplished by gently rolling your upper
body just like slalom turning.
